UWI certifies public sector employees
published: Wednesday | February 28, 2007

Some 300 public sector employees were yesterday presented with certificates of achievements from the University of the West Indies' (UWI) School of Continuing Studies.

The graduates participated in training which began last July and lasted between 10 and 12 weeks.

This was part of an agreement under the first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Government and the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions (JCTU). Last year's training programme cost the Government some $50 million.

The employees completed training in a wide cross section of areas including computer literacy, speech writing & public speaking, events management, computer fundamentals, among others.
