All-rounder Williams lifts Manley to victory over JC

LED BY Rohan Williams' superb all-round performance, former champions Norman Manley defeated Jamaica College (JC) by 13 runs at Maxfield Park yesterday in Grace Shield Premier League action.

Batting first, Williams scored 65 and Ryan Francis 30 in Norman Manley's 169, while Elvis Watson claimed 5-50 for JC.

Williams then returned figures of 5-30 and was well supported by Fabian Williams (2-22) as JC were bowled out for 156.

Meadowbrook defeated

Mardio Grandstand, 37, and Mac Robinson, 36, led the batting for JC, who defeated Meadowbrook in their Shield opener at Old Hope Road.

Elsewhere, Johniel Marsh took 6-25 to help Spanish Town dismiss Meadowbrook for 122 at Meadowbrook.

At their turn at bat, Spanish Town reached the target for the loss of six wickets. Richard Green, 33, and Peter Shue, 31, led the way.

At Mico, Wolmer's and Excelsior played to a tame draw.

Excelsior scored 159 with Romane Senior getting 54. Nicholas Dossard took 5-28. Wolmer's then reached 119 for eight. Emani McPherson made 51 against Randford Merchant 6-33.

Mona beat St. George's

In action on Tuesday, Nahari McDonald scored a century to lead Mona to an 80-run win over St. George's.

McDonald scored 107 not out and Romain Mothersill made 62 and Jamiel Austin 53 as Mona made 242 for two declared.

St. George's were then blown away for 162. Keron Davis (3-22) and Phillip Smith (3-27) were the chief destroyers.

At Little KC, Rasheed Outar hit 45 and took 4-26 to lead St. Catherine to a tight victory over Kingston College. They made 151 and then held on to beat KC by nine runs.
