Chinese-Cuban financial criminal, Isabella (Gong Li), and Detective Sonny Crockett (Colin Farrell) get closer in 'Miami Vice'. - Contributed
Movie title:Miami Vice
Genre: Action
Rating:(A+ Entertainment)
Running time: 133 minutes
Bonus features: Miami and Beyond: Shooting on Location, Miami Vice Undercover and In The Air Tonight Music Video.
Who's in it: Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell.
What it's About: In this action thriller, two undercover cops, Ricardo Tubbs (Jamie Foxx) and Sonny Crockett (Colin Farrell) seek to infiltrate the heart of Miami's drug world. In the end, after they are gradually pushed to the edge, they begin to lose themselves, making it difficult to distinguish where lines should be drawn.
The action gets started from the very beginning with the two undercover cops in a club, seeking their criminal targets. Not long after there is another undercover operation (not involving the stars), where the police officer's cover is blown and a serious shoot-out ensues. The sound effects are as real as it gets and the director will win marks for that.
Don't know how realistic the romantic rendezvous in Cuba is. When you watch the show, you'll know what I'm talking about.
The only disappointment is with the character played by Jamie Foxx. His character was presented as a serious person who hardly smiles, but with all that tough guy build-up there is no burst of violence or over-the-edge action from him.
Long story short: Cops versus drug lords, guns, fast cars and more than the usual number of sex scenes will be sufficient enough to quench the appetite of viewers.
The real lowdown: This show reminds me of a Bad Boys kind of thing. If you enjoyed watching Bad Boys, then Miami Vice should also be to your liking.
