Celebration time now
published: Friday | October 13, 2006

Orville Clarke, Gleaner Writer

Brian Harding ... rides Celebration Time.

With $4.1 million already in the kitty, indications are that the mushrooming Pick-9 will surpass the $5 million mark at Caymanas Park tomorrow.

The big carryover is sure to encourage heavy betting and I for one would not be surprised to see a Pick-9 payout of $5.5 million on the 11-race programme.

The Pick-9 embrace races three to 11, the Super-6 from race six to 11. We look at the Super-6 which starts anew at the guaranteed minimum of $500,000.

Horses to note

It gets under way with the Cash Pot 'Bonanza' Plaque (claiming $240,000 - $210,000) to be contested by six starters over 1700 metres.

The horses to note are DORALDO, FROMRUSSIA-WITHLOVE and the Lee Clarke-trained COUNCIL MAN, who advertised his well being on September 13 when finishing second to out of class DON'T STAY NAKED over the circular nine course.

The lightly raced LADY RAJKUMARI (lasix on), to be ridden by champion jockey Brian Harding for his guv'nor Anthony 'Baba' Nunes, has worked well, despite a lengthy absence and should return with a bang in the seventh race over 1200 metres for maiden three-year-olds.

Consistent runner

The consistent CELE-BRATION TIME (Harding up), having finished second in his last three races, is tipped to go one better in the eighth race over 1100 metres in which PLEASURE CRUISE (also knocking at the door) looks his principal danger in a field of nine.

IT'S IN THE GLOVE, another horse who has been a model of consistency, should reward the Husseys in the ninth race over the straight five course, a race in which ELECTRO SMART and the unbeaten JET SKI D'OR should ensure she is extended.

The $2 million Cash Pot Only For Me Trophy race over 1200 metres for two-year-olds, race number one in the $8.5 million Supreme Ventures series of three, should resolve itself into a straight fight between the stable-companions TOOT DI HOOT and ALNASKRA, both moving impressively at exercise.

Trained by Richard Azan, both were runaway winners last time out. However, with the unbeaten ALNASKRA now treated with Lasix, he has to be the choice.

Azan should complete a quick double with down in class TUNA SALOONA in the closing straight five race.
