Daren Powell to face Portmore XI

WEST INDIES fast bowler Daren Powell has been included in the Jamaica Development XI squad to face a Portmore Metropolitan Cricket League XI in a Heroes' weekend match at Bridgeport Sports Club on Sunday.

Ex-West Indies players Nehemiah Perry and David Bernard Jr. are included on the Portmore team. The match, a 40 over-a-side affair, will begin at 11:00 a.m.

Tamar Lambert will captain the Jamaica Development XI as the Jamaica Cricket Association, in a release, said this was to show its support of the Portmore league, which is in its second season.

The new squad

Lambert, Chadwick Walton, Powell, André McCarthy, Alton Beckford, Rashed Outar, Marlon Johnson, Ricardo Howe, Dennis Bulli, Danza Hyatt, Shane Powell, Nkrumah Bonner and André Russell make up the development squad.

The Portmore XI will be selected from the following: Samuel Douglas (captain), Bernard Jr., Royan Smith, Lascelles Davis, Perry, Dean Morgan, Ranville Brown, Peter Colquhoun, Collin Buchanan, Junior Stewart, Royland Henry, Damion Foster and Gary Herbine.

Meanwhile, tomorrow, at the same venue, Barbary Hall of St. Elizabeth will face a Portmore Youth XI, which includes several Under-15 players from the community's league, starting at 9:00 a.m.

A St. Elizabeth Masters team will face a Portmore Masters side at noon.
