HOSTS NORMAN Manley advanced to the second round of this year's ISSA/Pepsi/JN Man-ning Cup with an easy 4-0 victory over St. Jago yesterday.

Norman Manley (20 points) could also top the group as they have a game in hand and are only a point behind Spanish Town, who have already qualified by virtue of a 5-2 victory over Edith Dalton James on Tuesday.

At Tinson Pen yesterday, Kemar Lawrence hit brace to guide Norman Manley to their sixth victory of the season. Norman Manley dominated the first half and went ahead in the 16th minute when Lawrence fired home a left-side cross from teammate Nicholas Anderson.

Anderson doubled his team's lead in the 27th minute with a spectacular volley from just inside the box.

Norman Bailey added Norman Manley's third goal with a beautiful long-range shot that passed through the hands of St. Jago's goalkeeper, Kevin Walters, and went into the back of the net.

Lawrence scored his second goal in the 41st minute when he rifled home a thunderous right-foot 25-yard shot to the right of a diving Walters.

Excellent defending

After the break, Norman Manley picked up where they left off, but were denied by excellent defending by the St. Jago team which put all 11 players behind the ball.

Alrick Clarke, coach of Norman Manley, said he was pleased with his team's victory.

" This victory is a very good one," Clarke said. "We played according to our game plan because we wanted to score a lot of goals in the first half, because we have another game on Saturday. I am quite satisfied," he said.
