POLICE in the island's west end have made no breakthrough in the deaths of two foreign nationals who were murdered in Hanover and St. James during the last two months.
The foreigners, Henrietta Jensen of Sweden and Brian Johnston, an Australian, were killed on July 20 and August 11, respectively.
Last week, Inspector David Ebanks of the Hanover police division, told The Gleaner that several persons have been interrogated in connection with Ms. Jensen's death, but no one has been arrested.
Collected clothing
He said the police have collected clothing belonging to her fiancé, Andre Marr, and her gardener and sent them for forensic testing. Inspector Ebanks said fingernail clippings have also been taken from both men.
Mr. Marr discovered his fiancé's mutilated body on the morning of August 11, at the Abingdon guest house in the town of Green Island. He and Ms. Jensen operated the establishment.
Meanwhile, Mr. Johnston, an actor from Melbourne, had been vacationing at the Gloucester Hotel in Montego Bay. Just days after his arrival from Washington D.C. where he lived, his body was found in his room.
Police said the body had multiple stab wounds.
One woman was detained for questioning in connection with Mr. Johnston's death, but was released from police custody.
Karl Angell, the Jamaica Constabulary Force's spokes-person, said no other suspects have been questioned.
