Maintaining Christian principles
published: Sunday | September 10, 2006

The Editor, Sir:

There is a certain amount of decency, decorum, respect and discipline that should consistently be maintained in societies such as Jamaica. Jamaica is a Christian country with Christian values and, therefore, the country must strive for high Christian values and, therefore, the country must strive for high standards and behaviour within a Christian framework. God firmly deplores filthy, outrageous and outlandish behaviour by any individual. He demands from us love, and proper civilised and respectable behaviour at all times.

Filthy, unacceptable words

Jamaican 'bad-words' are filthy, unacceptable and demeaning words which demoralise the entire human being and neighbours and persons who use them, have no respect for themselves and their fellowmen and women. On most occasions, it is backward, uncivilised and intellectually-shallow persons who regularly spout these nasty Jamaican bad words and I fully agree with Jamaican law which makes it illegal for any person to utter such despicable words.

The majority of the Jamaican people cannot speak proper English, yet some silly, immoral persons are demanding that the Government legalise 'bad words' in the country. I say to Prime Minister Simpson-Miller, NO WAY. Keep the present legalisation on bad words on the law books.

I am, etc.,
