Elvis in Jamaican wife drama
published: Friday | September 8, 2006

A British Elvis impersonator is currently in Jamaica trying to secure a visa for his local wife who was refused one by the British High Commission.

The Royston Crow newspaper from Hertfordshire reported yesterday that 41-year-old Mark Goddard is in Jamaica to persuade the British High Commission to grant his wife Stephanie, whom he married in February, a visa to re-enter the U.K.

However when contacted yesterday the British High Commission responded that it was policy not to discuss individual applications.

The couple had met two years ago in the U.K. when Stephanie went there as a student and has since been working.

"She's been here five years and is even on the electoral role, but we can't seem to get anyone at the British Consulate to shift," said Mr. Goddard's mother Barbara.

Mr. Goddard has been voted 'Great Britain's Best Elvis'.
