National Workers Union (NWU) dispute yet to be resolved
published: Monday | August 28, 2006

Three senior officers of the National Workers Union are to meet again tomorrow as they try to resolve an internal dispute for the presidency of the union at next month's congress.

Two vice-presidents, Danny Roberts and Vincent Morrison, have declared their intention to challenge the incumbent, Clive Dobson, for the presidency.

Mr. Dobson, in response, has expressed surprise and dismay at this development, saying he had been given a commitment that there would be no challenge to his leadership as long as he wished to remain in the job.

Following last week's meeting, Mr. Dobson declined to give details but said the discussions were very frank and friendly.

He told The Gleaner that, after next week's meeting, a full statement would be made on the issue.
