Shelly-Ann Maxwell and Marlon Simms, members of the National Dance Theatre Company (NDTC), danced away with two British Airways tickets to London in the 'Dance BA' competition hosted by the airline on Sunday, June 11.

The event was the latest in a series in celebration of "60 years of partnership with the people of Jamaica."

Maxwell and Simms beat four other couples, presenting exciting performances of their waltz, jitterbug and disco pieces.

The competition which was open to members of dance companies and students of dance, was in the view of judges Carol Marie Webster and Marie Francis "a fantastic display of talent."

Webster, who has studied and taught at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Centre, New York and Francis, Director of the Jamaica Association of Vintage Artistes & Affiliates, noted that "the competitors were appropriately costumed, gifted dancers with tremendous potential."

In her remarks, BA Commercial Manager, Diane Corrie thanked the many "travel partners" who attended the event and the dancers and their teachers "for putting so much effort into their work."

Noting that BA Plc recently announced pre tax profits of £620m for the year March 31, 2005 to March 31, 2006, Mrs. Corrie said that "good results are attributable to product enhancements like the new Club World flatbed, World Traveller Plus, upgraded in-flight entertainment and one of the most global networks of flights possible for an airline."

She said that in Jamaica, "BA continues to enjoy brand loyalty from customers to work towards improving service delivery to all customers.

The airline recently expanded its telesales service with a 1-800-number that allows customers to make reservations from 7:00 a.m.-1:00 a.m. daily.

Mrs. Corrie noted that "BA has a number of anniversary special in the marketplace currently including "a US$499-US$599 World Traveller special and our summer birthday gift to Jamaica-US$650 Kingston/London direct, or via Miami.

She said that "the airline is hosting a number of 60th anniversary events "celebrating with travel industry partners, customers and the people of Jamaica."
