Paint the town Blue!
published: Friday | June 16, 2006

NEED THOSE earrings to match that outfit that you must wear to that special event? Then you might want to try Blue, the newest store to offer fashion accessories. Located on Grosvenor Terrace in Constant Spring, it provides a quiet shopping experience.

"I think we have a fine selection but at excellent prices and it's a pretty nice atmosphere," says Rosa Joseph, managing director of Blue. Joseph of Pablo's fame is one of a three-pronged femme operation that runs the store. She's the administrative one, while Terry Srour is the artistic brain and Malaika Wint handles the inventory.

The store opened for business on May 31 but had their grand opening on Saturday, and it was all blue, in a good way, for the evening. Waitresses in skimpy blue outfits serving blue rum punch (a fruity elixir with a deceptive kick in it) and Seretse Small strumming everyone's pain with his fingers on guitar all helped with a laid-back Saturday evening soiree.

ALL ABOUT LOCATION

Like any good business, it's all about location.

"Lots of women love coming here. There's a hairdresser here so while they're waiting they browse," Wint explained. Furthermore, we find that people like it because it's away from the plazas and there's plenty of parking," added Joseph. We had to ask: What's with name? As it turns out, Joseph is from the Dominican Republic and originally thought of the name azul (Spanish for blue), but after consulting her partners, they decided that was too Spanish for everybody so 'Blue' it was.

For the evening, guests took advantage of the 30 per cent discount to celebrate the opening. The store features fashion accessories from countries such as the Dominican Republic and Mexico. Another feature is that everything is colour-coded, making it easier for shoppers to find what they're looking for quickly.

And guys, don't feel left out. We are reliable informed that accessories for you will soon be in stock.
