Student makes donation to basic school
published: Friday | June 16, 2006

David Gresham of the American International School has the full attention of the little ones from K.I.D.S. Basic School in Clarendon as he reads them a story. - CONTRIBUTED

DAVID GRESHAM is a 12-year-old student at the American International School of Kingston. Born in Naples, Italy, he lived in the Middle East before moving to Jamaica two years ago.

He heard about the K.I.D.S Basic School in Clarendon after it was destroyed by hurricane Ivan and decided that the students needed help.

His conviction to help the school stayed with him. When his birthday arrived this year, he received some money and instead of buying a gift for himself he used the funds to buy new items for the children at the school, as well as donated books from his own collection.

MIGRATING TO NAIROBI

David recently made the presentation to the principal of the school Mr. John Ward. David and his family will be migrating to Nairobi, Kenya at the end of this month.

The K.I.D.S. Basic School was rebuilt by the Hilton Kingston as a part of its K.I.D.S outreach charity programme in 2005. The hotel will be rebuilding another basic school from the proceeds received from its annual Charity Golf Tournament which will be held on June 25 this year.
