WHILE GRIEVING the tragic loss of her father, last month, 12-year-old Shantel Sicheran last Friday died in hospital from what seems to have been a stroke.

It is understood that since the death of her father, Richard Sicheran on May 30, Shantel had been crying profusely every day. Reports from family members and close friends revealed that she had not been eating over the same period. "A pure cry she a cry every day and she not eating at all," a friend of the family said.

FEELING ILL

Shantel complained of feeling ill Thursday morning and was rushed to the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital and later transferred to Cornwall Regional where she died early Friday morning on her 12th birthday as a result of a stroke.

Shantel's death came at a time when relatives were planning the funeral for her father.

Shantel's father died in the Kingston Public Hospital while undergoing treatment of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision along the Big Bridge main road on May 30. Thirteen persons received injuries in that collision. Mr. Sicheran was the only fatality from that accident.
