PULSE'S CARIBBEAN Fashionweek displayed an authentic West
Indies flair, showcasing rainbows of light, ready-to-wear designs on Night Two
at the National Indoor Sports Arena Last Saturday.
The first show for the night featured London's The Cutter, by designer Carol Lowe. The semi-formal and formal wear line blended light and sombre colours with well-placed chain mesh to give a not-too-revealing but sexy display of skin.
St. Kitts designer Judith Rawling's Brown Sugar featured designs in lovely shades of green and orange. Her line of female clothing had an array of pants, vests and skirts in casual wear, however, for those looking for formal wear, her line delivered with stunning skirt combinations in deep greens, white and bronze.
Keneea Linton's line delivered one of the more diverse looks for the night. Her collection had a very vogue, '80s Madonna feel, with black and white polka dot combinations. Her inspirations were old world glamour with a modern flair for attention getting.
AFRICAN LOOK
Jasazii also offered a diverse look, with an African tribal flair.
The second show started with Ateliar Dore from Suriname. His line was the most innovative for the night, being entirely made from black plastic bags. The models strutted their stuff in skirts, shorts and dresses all with plastic ribbons, frills and metal jewellery and handbag accessories.
Pat Wright's Wright Style brought back old time Jamaica, using light sheer material. Pant suits for the ladies in yellows and pinks with a sometimes dishevelled look dominated her designs.
Trinidad and Tobago's Heather Jones' long formal dresses utilised colour as much as possible in a tropical, classy blend.
MOVING MURAL
Mutamba's collection was a combination of formal and casual. The designs had a unique artistic flair, some dresses looked like moving murals, with a creative mix of colour.
Canadian designer Lubica presented the only swimwear line for the night. Her crocheted swimwear was new and innovative, with sexy, glittery, light feel.
The most fun designs for the night were the T-shirt and jeans collections of Yardman Style, Rocksteady and Raw. All had a Jamaican touch with cute, colourful and unique T-shirt logos.
Although all designs for the night were beautiful and wellcrafted, there weren't any exceptional designs that truly wowed the audience. Missing were new, unique and eye-popping displays of fashion extravaganza.
