The newly inducted members of the Freight Forwarders Association of Jamaica
THE FREIGHT Forwarders Association of Jamaica (FFAJ) welcomed nine new members at its quarterly general meeting held on May 31 at the Christar Hotel.
In her address, Beverly Johnson, president of the association, said that the FFAJ was growing, not only in membership, but also in its level of involvement in the development of Jamaica's shipping industry. She emphasised the importance of maintaining high standards of professionalism and ethics for the growth of their individual companies and, ultimately, the association.
Johnson pointed out that while her group was not an association of 'noise makers', they certainly had influence on others in the industry, as the association's approach to resolving issues through dialogue and training affected the general membership and the industry as a whole.
The FFAJ president reminded her membership that the scope of services of international freight forwarding was vast and varying - extending from international procurement to delivery. She noted that the FFAJ is a recognised body governed by the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations and against this background she implored her membership, among other things, "to ensure that their principals or agents conform to the rules and regulations of the Customs Act of Jamaica."
The executive of the FFAJ welcomed the following new members: Viking Cargo Logistics; United Freight Forwarders; Caribbean Freight Handlers; Combined Freight & Shipping; Confidential Shipping & Trading; D. Grindley, Kingsley Shipping (Jamaica) Ltd.; Jacan Freight Forwarders and Superior Movers Ltd.
