TEACHERS' DAY activities in St. Ann on Wednesday were held at various locations across the parish and involved teachers from as far away as the parishes of St. Elizabeth and Manchester.

Several of the major hotels on the north coast opened their doors for the smartly dressed teachers to visit and enjoy the facilities free of cost while some top restaurants and attractions also played host to the teachers on their special day.

LUNCHEON AND GIFTS

One of the largest gatherings of teachers was seen at The Ruins at the Falls in Ocho Rios where businessman Michael Belnavis, in association with Digicel, hosted a luncheon for over 150 teachers from St. Ann and St. Mary.

A special presentation of cellular phones from Digicel and gift baskets from Industrial Sales Limited were made to some teachers while every one present received a CD player and T-shirts courtesy of Digicel.

Digicel's Human Resource Manager, Burnette Coke, who was the guest speaker, praised the island's teachers for their work in nation building and encouraged them to continue their important duties.

Speaking on behalf of the teachers, principal of Bethel Basic School in St. Ann's Bay, Joan Barnaby, said the day's event was a most enjoyable affair.

Breezes Runaway Bay resort hosted a luncheon for 50 teachers as part of its annual Teachers' Day activities.

DAY PASSES

At the Hedonism III resort, 40 teachers from six schools enjoyed their special day at the facility. Some went on day passes to enjoy the beach and super-inclusive daytime activities, while others opted for night passes to have dinner and then go on to the disco.

Sandals Dunn's River Villaggio resort also took time out to host over 30 teachers from six schools.
