THE EDITOR, Sir:
MOTHER'S DAY is approaching and the onus is on our shoulders to evaluate ourselves to see what we have woven into the lives of our children and to ask ourselves whether we are the cause of what is happening in the nation.
What impact did we make on our children's lives, or did we just compare them with others? Were we there when they needed someone to talk to, or did we leave them to be misled by their peers? Are we their icons? Have we done the best for them to emulate us?
Have we learnt the importance of bending the tree at an early age to avoid years of increasing painful damage to morals and discipline that is now creating havoc with the youths in our society?
Were we efficient and dynamic in the rearing of our children, showing them the challenges of life and how to achieve the best? Parenting is not an easy road, but we have to allow God to lead the way.
For those who lose their children by the gun, those who died tragically by other means or those who are mentally challenged, other mothers share your pain and remember you are not completely ignored. We are praying for your endurance in this troubled world.
I am, etc.,
BARBARA DIXON
