Tall task for Harry Douglas
published: Wednesday | April 19, 2006

MEMBER OF Parliament for South East St. Mary, Harry Douglas, could have a challenge on his hands if he decides to seek re-election to represent the People's National Party (PNP) in that constituency at the next general election.

Maureen Webber, PNP Deputy general secretary, said yesterday that two persons have expressed an interest in running for the South East St. Mary seat, following the decision by caretaker Christopher Brown to withdraw his candidacy for the post.

RECONSIDERED

Mr. Brown handed in his resignation last Wednesday, amid reports that Mr. Douglas had reconsidered an earlier decision not to seek re-election.

Mr. Douglas had denied those reports, but on Thursday, following Mr. Brown's resignation, he admitted that there was a possibility that he may seek re-election.
