AT LEAST five persons were murdered during a bloody Easter Monday.
On Monday night, at St. John's Road in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, 35-year-old Steve Stewart was fatally shot by a gunman. According to reports gathered by the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), Stewart was fired on and hit by the gunman after leaving a shop. He was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
SHOT ON VERANDA
The police are investigating the shooting of a 45-year-old woman, Dorreth Sutherland, of Johnson Town. At around 9:30 p.m. last Monday, Sutherland was found shot on her veranda after explosions were heard. She was taken to Noel Holmes Hospital where she was confirmed dead.
On the same evening, 43-year-old Dexter Miller, of Dewdney Road, Kingston 11, was shot dead by gunmen at his home. Reports indicate that Mr. Miller and his wife arrived home about 9:50 p.m. to find five men in their yard. Mr. Miller's wife was ordered inside the house. After gunshots were heard, Mr. Miller was discovered dead. The police were alerted and Miller's body was taken to the morgue for post-mortem. The St. Andrew South Homicide Unit is investigating the murder.
The same homicide unit is also examining the circumstances behind the killing of 29-year-old Dwight Morgan, of McKoy Lane, Kingston 11, who was shot on Monday afternoon. The police were summoned to McKoy Lane when residents heard explosions around 4:30 p.m. Investigators on the scene found Mr. Morgan's body with multiple gunshot wounds.
Also on Monday, Michael Grey, a 38-year-old who lived at Baldwin Crescent, Kingston 20, was shot dead in the area by a gunman. According to reports, the gunman approached the victim and shot him as he alighted from his car at the Duhaney Drive intersection after 1:50 p.m.
