THE EDITOR, Sir:
IT IS note-worthy that P.J. Patterson was the longest serving Prime Minister of Jamaica.
As the lit candle of his over 40 years of active political life faded away on Thursday, March 30, when the array of speakers from both sides of the House spoke eloquently of his life and work, I listened to the many accolades showering on him.
I recalled the poetic statement, "My good name is the immediate jewel of my soul."
Further to his humility and love for his country, his humane manner is superb.
The task is over and so, I'll say, Bravo! Mr Prime Minister for your 14 years of stewardship.
