Dressed to impress
published: Sunday | April 16, 2006

Last Wednesday, it was once again time for Parliamentarians to don their finery and step out in style for the ceremonial opening of the new year. The female members are usually the ones to watch and they pull out top designer and other labels for their big day. So, it's lights, camera and action as we bring some of the highlights to you through the lens of Chief Photographer Rudolph Brown.

From left to right:

  • Cousins, Verna Parchment and Olivia 'Babsie' Grange, are dressed to the nines as they usually do for such occasions. MP Parchment chose the season's pink and her own design was intricately executed locally. MP Grange chose an Armani suit.

  • Ahead of the pack, Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller's white Escada with brown accessories was just what a lady needs for such a historic occasion.

  • Education Minister Maxine Henry-Wilson's figure-flattering dress and jacket were accessorised by an appropriate hat. Her shoes and bag looked good, too.

  • James Robertson always looks like a man fresh from the pages of GQ, and the lovely MP from St. Ann, Shahine Robinson's trendy suit with iridescent highlights put her right in step with today's looks.

  • Her Excellency the Most Hon. Mrs. Hall, wife of the Governor-General, is perfectly poised in this lilac two-piece, and her hat is just what the fashion doctor ordered.

  • Senator Dorothy Lightbourne's trendy suit was topped with a hat in her party colours.
