National Commercial Bank's general manager of International Business Development, N. Christian Stokes (right), discusses financial opportunities for the Jamaican diaspora in the United Kingdom with the secretary of the Jamaica Society of Leeds, Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson, and the vice-chairman of the Jamaica Society of Leeds, Mr. Travis Johnson.

"IT IS National Commercial Bank's intention to work very hard to ensure that Jamaicans living in the United Kingdom can do business online, on the telephone or as if they were walking into one of our branches in Jamaica," stated NCB's general manager of International Business Development, Chris Stokes, as he recently addressed a delegation from the Jamaica Society of Leeds who were visiting the island from the United Kingdom.

During their visit, the group stayed in Mammee Bay, St. Ann, and travelled the island, visiting various heritage sites, museums and other popular tourist attractions in several parishes.

NCB sponsored an excursion to Kingston and St. Andrew, which included a visit to and guided tour of Devon House where the group also got an opportunity to view Jamaican antiques, some of them being over 150 years old.

"We have had a very long working relationship with NCB, one which we hope will continue for as long as possible," effused Travis Johnson, vice-chairman of the Jamaica Society Leeds. Mr. Johnson expressed his appreciation of NCB's hospitality, on behalf of his contingent.

SPIRITED EXCHANGE OF IDEAS

This luncheon facilitated a spirited exchange of ideas between the NCB executives and the members of the Jamaica Society of Leeds, which included discussion of the concerns and issues affecting some Jamaicans living in the United Kingdom.

"NCB has always been kind to the Jamaica Society of Leeds. We assure you that we will be there with you all through," indicated Mr. Johnson as he lauded the consistent support that NCB has offered over the years.

In his response, Mr. Stokes stated, "We look forward to serving you and your families in newer ways in the U.K., and we at NCB are working assiduously towards making that a reality."

NCB is actively working to deepen its linkages to Jamaicans living in the diaspora, and were sponsors of The Jamaican Diaspora UK Conference which was held on April 1, and will also sponsor the upcoming Second Biennial Jamaican Diaspora Conference which will be held in Jamaica in June.
