KINGSTON (CMC):
NINE EXPERIENCED ticket agents have been embraced by Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2007 Inc. to spearhead the company's ticket centres, which open across the region on May 2.
These ticketing personnel all spent several years working with the West Indies Cricket Board and are expected to oversee the roll-out of public ticketing in the various host venues.
In preparation for the ticket roll-out, CWC 2007's Ticket-ing Unit last week held a one-day training workshop for ticket centre supervisors and officials from the Local Organising Committees (LOCs) in Barbados.
SUCCESS
Delroy Taylor, CWC 2007's project officer for ticketing, labelled the event a success. "It went very well. The feedback was excellent and the supervisors were extremely receptive to the information," Taylor said.
"They are well aware of challenges and they are enthusiastic about the job ahead. We have a lot of confidence in them and we will be counting on the experience, which many of them have gathered as senior ticket agents for the WICB, to help make public ticketing a smooth and positive process for fans."
He added: "There was a lot of interaction between those of us making the presentations and the participants. They had a lot of questions and we used simulation exercises to discuss how various ticketing and operational scenarios should be handled, especially with regards to customer service.
MANUAL
"We introduced the supervisors to our operational manual which thoroughly outlines procedures for ticket centres, and we focused on some important issues such as how to fill out the application form, cash management and contingency plans."
Public ticketing is scheduled to start online on May 1, with ticket centres beginning business one day later, as seven countries - excluding Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago - observe May 1 as a public holiday for Labour Day.
