THE TORNADOES Swim Club, without the services of Brad Hamilton, will be hard pressed to defend its title in the Tornadoes Swim Club Invitational swim meet which starts at the National Stadium today.

In what is the ninth renewal of the event, 400 swimmers are expected to participate when action jumps off at 5:00 p.m.

The meet will continue tomorrow beginning with a morning session that goes from 8:00 a.m. until noon.

The swimmers will then reconvene at 4:30 p.m. when the nine other clubs involved will continue their bid to knock Tornadoes off their perch.

TRIALS FOR CARIFTA

The meet will also serve as a valuable warm-up for the April 5-10 Carifta Swimming Cham-pionships.

From the group that should make the trip, there will be a throng of local stars that are expected to create some excitement.

Gillian Millwood from the Y-Speedos should shine.

As a matter of fact, the Speedos' challenge with, Raynae Hall, Doniesha McKenzie, could be quite formidable.

Those girls will have com-petition in racking up points from the Tornadoes' Dominique Dawson and the Blue Seals' Kendese Nangle.

In the boys' section, Jason Adams from Tornadoes, David Bromfield from the Speedos along with his teammate Ramon Walton will be the guys to watch.

There will also be the involvement of overseas-based swimmer Rohan Johnson to bring a little international flavour to the outing.
