Paul-Andre Walker, Staff ReporterTHE AMATEUR Swimming Association of Jamaica (ASAJ), yesterday announced its team for the CARIFTA Swimming Championships set to begin on April 6 in Barbados.
The announcement was made during yesterday's staging of the Mayberry Investments High/Ter-tiary Schools Swim Meet at the National Stadium pool.
The team will be led by 15-17 age-group prodigies, Brad Hamilton and Alia Atkinson and will also include, Gillian Millwood, Travis Forte, and Matthew Hilton.
The 11-12 age-group will be led by newcomer Kendise Nangle, Victoria Ho and Rene Hall in the girl's department, while Prince Easton will lead the way for the men.
DISAPPOINTING SIXTH
Last time out the Jamaicans finished a disappointing sixth, but the Amateur Swimming Association of Jamaica technical director, Jackie Walter, feels this team can do better.
"We are fielding a full team which is something that we didn't do last year, and we certainly have the addition of Alia Atkinson, who we didn't have last year. I'm expecting us to be in the top three and the possibility of winning is certainly there," said Walter.
QUALITY TEAMMATES
At the 13-14 age-group, Jason Adams has been the man in form, but has quality teammates in the form of Brian Forte, Dominic Walter and Ramon Walton, who are all new to the category.
The team will be completed by: Kristen Jones, Taryn Bridgewater, Nicole Chin, Dominique Dawson, Vanessa Downs, Simone Hunter, Tamari Farquharson, Lauren Soutar, David Bromfield, Matthew Chen, Steven Moodie, Janhoi McCallum, Jason Adams, Benton Dair, Richard Graham, Andre Smith, Donovan Todd, Garrick Robinson and Rohan Johnson.
