Munro's Rowe on target again
published: Thursday | February 2, 2006

Paul-Andre Walker, Staff Reporter

LAST WEEK'S player of the week, Jerren Rowe, again came up trumps for Munro when he scored to help his team to a 3-0 defeat of Wolmer's Boys in the Jamaica Hockey Federation (JHF)/Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) Under-19 Schoolboys Competition at the Mona Hockey Field on Tuesday.

Playing in their second game of the day, Munro shrugged off a tough 2-1 loss to Papine, who got goals from Oraine Reid and Charles Burton, to pull off the feat.

For Munro, Rowe got on to the scoresheet first, before his teammates Oshane Hasley and Jermaine Campbell put the game out of contention. Earlier, Jerome Carthy had scored Munro's consolation goal against Papine.

Last week, Rowe was awarded the player of the week title, a new one for the competition, after he notched four goals from two games, having also scored a hat-trick in a 6-1 drubbing of Kingston College.

In the day's other games, Kingston College and Tivoli Gardens played to a 0-0 scoreline, while Mona and St. Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) had the same result in their game.

The results mean that Munro now sit atop zone 'B' with nine points from four games, while Papine, after Tuesday's victory, were second with seven points.

Wolmer's are next with two points from three games, Tivoli second from the bottom with two points and Kingston College round off the group after getting their first point of the tournament.
