WESTERN BUREAU:
TWO TEENAGE girls from Johnson Town, Hanover, who were reported missing were found on Monday night by the police in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, and charged as juveniles in need of care and protection.
The girls, Kerona Malcolm and Natasha Brissett, both 15 years old, were spotted walking along a street in Savanna-la-Mar after they went missing last Tuesday. The juveniles' safe return home has put an end to a frantic week-long search by the police and members of their community.
Reports are that the girls, both cousins and fourth form students of Green Island High School, did not return home from school. They reportedly spent the night at a friend's house in Cove, Hanover, without their parents' knowledge.
Sandra Mosely, mother of Kerona Malcolm, told The Gleaner following an appearance in the Lucea Family Court yesterday, she was relieved that her daughter has been returned to her.
"We really feel good and to know that is not bad man have them and rape them or nothing further like death," Ms. Mosely said. "We really feel good. Is really my daughter follow her cousin, that is why she run away."
The 'runaways' will face the Family Court again on Friday.
