Call in the UN
published: Wednesday | October 26, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE ECONOMIST magazine, one of the leading authorities on statistical matters, has now identified Jamaica as the Number One Murder Capital of the World - ahead of even those countries which are at present at war! What this means is that the Jamaican Government has been clearly identified as the most incompetent on earth at protecting the lives of its citizens!

From recent events in Spanish Town and Tivoli Gardens, along with general observation, it is clear that we can expect little better from the Opposition, and all the hot air that we are generating is getting us nowhere. It is becoming more and more apparent that the society is being polarised into two sections, the politicians, their security guards and their cronies on the other hand, and the rest of us, who are now an endangered species.

The United Nations has been called in to protect population sectors in countries with far lower extermination rates than ours. It is clear that we will have to call them in sooner or later. Why not sooner?

I am, etc.,

JOSEPH GREEN

Irish Town P.O.
