Crunch time for new boys

WESTERN BUREAU:

THOMPSON TOWN of Clarendon and Robert Lightbourne High of St Thomas will be the third and fourth new schools to make their debuts in the ISSA Pepsi/JN daCosta Cup schoolboys' football competition this afternoon when action continues with 17 matches.

Thompson Town will be away to Denbigh in a Zone H game, while Robert Lightbourne play away to St Thomas Technical at Eastern Bananas in a Zone L (b) encounter.

Iona High made their debut yesterday and were beaten 2-0 by St. Mary High while the fourth new school, Irwin, were thrashed 5-1 by Muschett on Monday.

There was a hat-trick for the second straight day as Françoise Swaby scored three times to lead Spalding to a 5-0 blanking of Porus who were making their Zone G debut.

Rushaine Henry of Brown's Town had scored a hat-trick on Monday to lead his team to a 5-0 win over Aabuthnott Gallimore High.

It was a bad start for Holmwood Technical however as they went down 3-1 at home to Knox in the other Zone G game.

Two-time winners St. Elizabeth Technical had no problems with Balaclava as they extended their shutout streak against them to nine games with a 2-0 win in Zone E. Renario Downswell and Kimar Smith were the scorers.

Lance Salmon scored twice for Newell in their 5-0 trouncing of Lacovia.

Belair surpassed their goal tally of last season and matched their points total when they drew 2-2 with May Day.
