Husband charged in wife's acid attack

Michael Anthony Laoe of Carol Way in Westchester, Portmore, has been charged in connection with the June 10 acid attack on his wife at the St. Andrew Revenue Service Centre in Constant Spring.

Mr. Laoe, 40, was charged with conspiracy and aiding and abetting grievous bodily harm.

He was handed over to the police Friday evening and subsequently charged. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

According to the Constabulary Commun-ication Network, Mr. Laoe's wife, an employee of the St. Andrew Revenue Service Centre, was about to enter the building when a man doused her with acid, causing severe burns.

The attacker was held and beaten by a mob. He died shortly after being taken to hospital.

The woman was admitted to hospital in serious condition.
