Liguanea art and photo festival
published: Sunday | May 1, 2005

THE LIGUANEA art and photo festival promises to be an exciting event this year. Already plans are far advanced for the staging of the festival at the Liguanea Plaza in St. Andrew. The festival is scheduled for May 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Vivienne Logan is one of the artist who will be exhibiting.

VIVIENNE LOGAN

Vivienne Logan is Jamaica by birth and British by nationality. She was educated at the City University, London, where she graduated with a B.Sc. in Economics and an M.Sc. in Administrative Sciences majoring in Marketing Management.

She was recruited to a Diplomatic post at the Jamaican High Commission, London, on leaving university. She returned to Jamaica in 1975 and became involved in Project Management and National Development work for the Government of Jamaica through various funding agencies. In 1983-1990, she served as policy and planning advisor to the Prime Minister of Jamaica.

Ms. Logan's primary accomplishment over the next five years included developing her Management Consultancy firm of Richfield and Pace Investments Ltd. and diversifying into a fashion designing, manufacturing and retailing business under the name Vivida's. She was selected to be one of six design houses to represent Jamaica at the Pret-a-Porter Show in Paris, as well as the Dusseldorfs Igedo Show in 1994, here she was nominated for awards for her designs and quality of workmanship.

Ms. Logan entered the fine arts business in 1996 and is today an accomplished artist whose recent achievement was winning the only Gold Medal in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission's (JCDC) 1999 National Fine Arts competition, where she competed in the professional artist's category. She received a Silver Medal in 2000 and 2002, the highest award in the category for both years. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions locally and overseas and in solo exhibitions in the United Kingdom and South of France. She was president of the Jamaica Artists and Craftsmen's Guild for two years.

Two of her works are presented here.
