More immigration officers to ease Sangster delays
published: Tuesday | February 15, 2005

EFFECTIVE THURSDAY, a new staff roster for immigration officers will be implemented at the Sangster International Airport to ease the delay at the airport's incoming immigration.

The decision was taken yesterday following a meeting at the Ministry of National Security between representatives of the Airport Authority of Jamaica, the Jamaica Tourist Board, the MBJ Airports Limited and the Immigration Department of the Ministry of National Security.

The ministry will open dialogue immediately with the Jamaica Civil Service Association ahead of the implementation of the new staff roster.

It was also determined that the Ministry of National Security would have further dialogue with the Ministry of Finance for additional resources to meet the challenges resulting from the increased tourist traffic through the Sangster International Airport and in keeping with the Tourism Master Plan.
