THE SAINTS Peter and Paul Preparatory School cub pack (Junior Boy Scouts) made their annual Christmas charity visit to the Jamaican Christian Boys' Home on Oxford Road recently. The charity visit programme, headed by Assistant Chief Commissioner of the cub pack, Mrs. Sonia Johnson, has been going on for over 10 years.
The cubs visit both the Christian Boys' Home and Campbell's Basic School in Standpipe, St. Andrew.
The cub pack's donation to the Jamaican Christian Boys' Home included more than 15 boxes of essential items, including clothing, shoes, toiletries, food, books, and $3900 cash collected from the students of Sts. Peter and Paul.
Another initiative of the cub pack is the take home programme, in which cub pack parents volunteer to accommodate one of the boys in their home for Christmas Day, allowing him to experience what it is to be in a family setting, something many of the boys have been deprived of for their entire lives.
In attendance for the handing-over ceremony were Fannie Knight; headmistress of the boys' home, residents of the boys' home; Mrs. Sonia Johnson, members of the cub pack and parents.
