Jermaine Hue
A skilful striker

published: Saturday | October 9, 2004

Hue

JERMAINE HUE is a prolific goalscorer, but to notch a brace in two minutes in an international contest against Guatemala may even come as a surprise to the skilful striker.

Hue's two goals, which earned Jamaica a come-from-behind 2-2 draw against Guatemala at the Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Saturday, was good enough to give him his first Gleaner Top Performer of the Week Award (September 30-October 7).

As part of Jamaica's preparations for their crucial World Cup qualifier against Panama today, Jamaica fielded a full local-based team and with Hue's magic, coach Sebastiao Lazaroni must be paying close attention to the Harbour View
captain.

Referred to by many as Harbour View's midfield general, Hue, who came on as a substitute, struck in the 88th and 90th minutes, just as the Jamaicans were staring defeat in the face against Guatemala, who currently lead CONCACAF Group B with seven points.

Hue did not travel to Panama City for Jamaica's crucial CONCACAF Group A World Cup qualifier against Panama but he must be in the coach's thoughts now.
