Air Jamaica's oversized executive
published: Saturday | October 9, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IT IS with much wonder that I observe the almost daily disclosures by Mr. Zacca of the reasons for Air Jamaica's failings. He has managed in the space of two weeks to blame everything and everyone from the creation of Adam and Eve to 9-11 to the latest of his blame slinging, Hurricane Ivan.

He managed to include in his long list of excuses, the alleged greed of the company's workers (pilots, flight attendants and mechanics curiously top his list). We have not, however, heard anything of the Administration of Air Jamaica and the reason why for a small and quickly expanding regional airline it has one of the largest executive bodies encompassing several directors and vice-presidents as well as many TENS of managers.

I may not know the intricate details of running an airline, but I DO know when I see big fat cats trying to take what they can of one mighty big national cheese.

I am, etc.,

JOHN PATRICK
