published: Saturday | August 28, 2004

By Rayon Dyer, Gleaner Writer

BLACK RIVER:

FOUNDER OF the CHILD Foundation, Dr. Glasceta Honeyghan, and members of the Boston Chapter of the organisation, recently presented a gas stove, a cheque for $90,000 and a copier machine to three St. Elizabeth schools.

The gifts were presented at a function at the Mountainside Primary School on August 21. The schools included Ballards Valley Primary, Bigwoods Primary and Mountainside Primary.

Speaking at the presentation, Dr. Honeyghan said that CHILD, which means Community Help In Literacy Drive, is committed to helping less fortunate persons in the parish. She said that some of the things accomplished by the Foundation included text-book distribution, assisting some students with school fees and housing.
