Talk Show hosts belittle us
published: Wednesday | August 25, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

LET ME again reiterate my concern at the constant doomsday policy of the babbling Talk Show hosts all around the island. Their continuing hopelessness and lack of optimism have created a hopeless void in the people of this beautiful country.

If I had listened and succumbed to the diatribe spouted every day I would not have come home to my beautiful country after living abroad for 35 years. Let me big up Mr E. Redway for his letter to you on Saturday articulating how these Talk Show hosts belittle this country and every effort made by Government to get things under control. One wonders why they continue to live and enjoy the fruits of this country of their birth. Why not migrate because nothing is right for them in or about Jamaica.

Ironically, they're the ones reaping the spoils and the peons are left to eke out a living, yet they're so stupid they're still giving support and ratings to these detractors. Freedom is not free. The Government needs the support of the people. Jamaica has come a long way regardless of the spiralling crime rate which is causing concern.

Since 9/11 we're living in a changing world and we don't want people who have the ears of the populace to be constantly throwing oil/gas on the fire. Let me say again it is time to uplift the country, not to constantly depress it.

I am, etc.,
