Look at the Olympic costumes!
published: Wednesday | August 25, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IF WHAT Bishop Blair and his supporters believe is true, rape and not the threat of terrorism, should be the biggest security nightmare for the Olympic organizers in Athens.

Instead, female athletes from around the world are safely living and competing alongside male athletes, coaches and officials within the Olympic Village. No one seems to be molesting them. Motive and opportunity exists for all those men, so where then is the wholesale rape that should be rampant in Greece?

It is ample proof that dress is not the single trigger for rape as some would have us believe. Otherwise the hundreds of physically stunning female athletes in Athens, dressed to compete in the briefest of costumes, would be going through hell. Let's hope that the Games will help put that fallacy to rest.

I am, etc.,
