Creary DEPUTY GENERAL Secretary of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Don Creary said he harbours no ill-feeling towards Edward Seaga despite statements by the Opposition Leader that Creary and other members of the 'reformist' wing of the party should stay away from Western Kingston.
According to Mr. Creary, Mr. Seaga's comments fall in a "long list of unfortunate remarks" made by the JLP leader in recent times, "making him look petty when he should be leaving the political arena in a blaze of glory.
"What I find amazing is that we (the so-called reformists) have never sought to or have tried to disrespect Mr. Seaga in any way," Mr. Creary said. "Even with the tainted money allegation when our integrity was brought into question nobody went after the leader in any disrespectful way. I have a very good relationship with the people of Western Kingston I was shot at by the security forces during that carnage that killed 27 persons three years ago while trying to do my job as a photographer. Even if Mr. Seaga wants to forget that, I am sure the people there will not. For the record, I have been to Tivoli Gardens since Mr. Seaga made those comments."
Mr. Seaga last week on the television programme 'Impact' said Creary and the other reformists should 'walk wide' of Western Kingston, charging that they have been trying to undermine him even in his own backyard. Mr. Seaga has been the Member of Parliament for Western Kingston for over 40 years.
Mr. Creary, a member of the James Robertson campaign team in his successful bid for a Deputy Leader post at last year's JLP conference, said he is of the view that Mr. Seaga has been fed a steady dose of false information by persons he (Seaga) perceived as loyalists and whose sole agenda was to drive a wedge between the reformists and the Opposition Leader.
