THE EDITOR, Sir:
YOUR COLUMNIST Delroy Chuck gives good advice regarding the choice of the next Jamaican leader.
In particular, where he says: The candidates should be encouraged to participate in a series of debates highlighting their strengths, elucidating their vision of a better Jamaica and baring their integrity, intellect and character.
In reality, Jamaicans will be selecting their next chief executive officer (CEO) and not merely a political leader. A prerequisite for this post must be integrity "unimpeachable integrity, without which the trust of the nation cannot long be held", to quote the late United States President Dwight Eisenhower.
When asked: What is the most important prerequisite for a nation's chief executive, Eisenhower unhesitatingly responded with one word: Integrity.
Jamaicans could do well to look for honesty, sincerity and wholesomeness in their next chief executive officer and the media have a vital role in helping them to make the right selection.
