published: Friday | June 11, 2004

THERE HAS been a major shake-up in the top leadership of the Police Narcotics Division.

Assistant Commissioner Errol Strong, the security attaché at the Jamaican Embassy in Washington, D.C., has been recalled to replace Senior Superintendent Carl Williams.

SSP Williams who has applied for 10 days departmental leave, will be leaving the island in August to further his studies overseas. His deputy, Superin-tendent Lloyd Haley, will be temporarily in charge until Mr. Strong assumes leadership of the division.

Gladstone Wright, another senior officer, has been transferred to the Hanover Division.

TRAINING COURSES

Asst. Commissioner Strong has served the Jamaica Constabulary Force for more than 35 years. He has undergone a number of local and overseas training courses in professional management and was one of the early members to be promoted under the 1974 accelerated programme.

He has been posted at the Jamaican Embassy in Washington since the late 1990s. Among his main areas of responsibility is the co-ordination of information on deportees returning from the United States.
