SPINNERS NIKITA Miller, Yanick Elliott and Dwayne Cooper shared nine Boys' Town wickets as Melbourne secured yesterday's only first innings victory in action from the fourth round of the Supreme Ventures/Super Cup at Melbourne Oval.
Miller (4-16), Elliott (3-25) and Cooper (2-15) combined to dismiss Boys' Town for 117 as only Duran White, 24, made a worthwhile contribution with the bat for the visitors.
In reply, league leaders Melbourne closed on 138 for two with Donovan Pagon, 41, and Marlon Samuels, 29, still at the crease.
Dillon Ebanks had earlier made 45.
AT KIRKVINE: Paced by a 92-run 10th wicket stand between Oneil Richards and Damion Morgan, St. Catherine CC amassed a competitive total of 327 against Manchester in their feature clash.
The two came together with second-placed St. Catherine struggling on 235 for nine. Jamaica player Richards, 94, fell just six runs short of winning himself $10,000 when he was dismissed by the last ball of the day.
CENTURY MAKER
Uriel Samuels was the man who prevented Richards from becoming the 11th century maker of the season.
Richards, who struck six fours in his 141-ball knock, played a ball to long-off and pushed for a second run against an alert Samuels, who ran around quickly to pick before throwing down Morgan's wicket at the non-striker's end which signalled the close of what could be considered a solid innings by St. Catherine - 327 all out.
AT UP PARK CAMP: Hard-hitting batsman Shane Powell made 76 (12x4), Dave Ledgister, 38, Joseph Palmer, 37 not out, for St. Elizabeth as they amassed 269 against JDF who closed on 39 for two. Paul Brown (3-49), Mark Grey (3-60), Warren Medwinter (2-25) took the most wickets for JDF who lost Damion Grey, one, and Medwinter, five. Ainsley Goss 2-26 has so far taken the most wickets for St. Elizabeth while Jerome Taylor has bowled four wicket-less overs.
AT ALLAN RAE OVAL: Westmoreland surrendered 60 penalty runs for a late start to their game against Kensington. However, when play finally got started about 90 minutes after the scheduled 10:00 start, Westmoreland, led by Raul Winter, 76, Cleveland Davidson, 52 not out, Vinard Woolcock, 32, and Dwayne Ewart, 42, reached 256 for five when stumps were drawn.
AT SABINA PARK: Former St. Andrew Technical pacer Ashuman Kentish bowled Lucas back into contention in their game against Kingston. Lucas were dismissed for 181 with Delroy Morgan getting 53 and Tarique Cousins, 48, against Roy Williams (4-47) and Nehemiah Perry (3-34).
At the close, Kingston were 68 for six. Kentish had claimed 4-30.
