WESTERN BUREAU:
THE MONTEGO Bay police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a human skull on the compound of the Bogue Sewage Treatment Plant in the city on Monday.
Dr. Murari Saranji, regional consultant forensic pathologist at the Cornwall Regional Hospital, found that the skeletal part is that of a female, believed to be between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
However, his examination was unable to determine when the woman died and the cause of death.
Information is that the skull, wrapped in a discoloured grey shirt, was found by passers-by who alerted the police.
Reports from the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) is that about 12:15 p.m. the skull, with a piece of black cloth tied around it, was taken to Cornwall Regional where it was examined and later removed to the Madden's Funeral Parlour.
There was a similar discovery last Monday in Frome, Westmoreland where the skeletal remains of an unidentified male, said to be in his 50s, were found in a canefield.
Up to press time, investigators probing the incident had made no breakthrough in the matter.
