Notice insists on proper Xmas work
published: Wednesday | December 17, 2003

LINSTEAD, St. Catherine:

DESPITE THE fact that Spanish Town's mayor and councillor, Dr. Raymoth Notice, has insisted that work given out for the Christmas season by the St. Catherine Parish Council should be properly done, shoddy, substandard paint and clean-up jobs are showing up across the town.

Touring several sections of the communities recently the mayor expressed his disappointment. He indicated that this is not a 'give-away gift' for the Christmas season but persons who got this job under the Christmas holiday work should try their best to have it properly done.

The mayor said drains are being filled with debris after they are being cleaned. This is costing the government large sums of money.

On another matter, firemen are urging parents that during the Christmas season children should not be exposed to firecrackers, starlights and other lighted objects, as they can prove very dangerous.

The firemen said 62 children were burnt last year and they are hoping that there will be no repetition this year.
