Deportee nabbed with fake documents
published: Wednesday | December 17, 2003

A CORPORATE Area man, who was deported twice from the United Kingdom and denied entry into the United States last month, was detained last Friday after the police found a United States passport and green card, along with two Jamaican passports in his possession.

Area Four crime officer, Superintendent Calvin Benjamin, said the man was held during a police operation in Nannyville Gardens, a community in the violence-prone area off Mountain View Avenue, St. Andrew.

"Four persons were also detained and three motorcycles seized," said Supt. Benjamin.

Reports are that some of the travel documents were in different names, but fitted with the suspect's photograph.

The police have been maintaining a strong presence in the Nannyville area over the past three weeks, following a clash between two groups, one located to the north of the community and the other to the south.

Reports are that the police intervened, and recently took the two leaders into custody. They were interrogated and later released.

At least three illegal firearms and several rounds of ammunition have been seized by the police since the flare-up in that community.
