In addition, two scholarships valued at $50,000 each were awarded to Carlos Gordon and Janine Fisher, students of Jamaica College and St. Hugh's, respectively.

The awards were made to the students at a function held at the G.C. Foster College, St. Catherine, and attended by a large gathering of students, teachers and parents. The grants, each valued at $10,000, were presented to students from Bog Walk, Charlemont, Cumberland, Dinthill Technical, Ewarton, Glengoffe, Guys Hill, Greater Portmore, Hydel, Innswood, Johnathan Grant, José Marti Technical, McGrath, Old Harbour, Spanish Town, St. Cathe-rine, St. Jago, Tacius Golding, and Waterford high schools and St. Mary's College.

Hugh Beckford, general manager of the credit union, said that the awardees were children of members of the institution and were selected based on needs and academic achievements.
