SERGEANT EVERARD Forbes, 50, who was assigned to the Greater Portmore police station, south St. Catherine, died yesterday from injuries he suffered on Saturday in a three-vehicle accident on the Old Harbour main road.
Three other persons were injured in the crash and have been admitted to hospital in serious but stable condition.
The Constabulary Communi-cation Network (CCN) reported that around 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sgt. Forbes was driving his blue Toyota Hiace minibus, registered PA 7920, along the Old Harbour main road when a white Toyota Hiace minibus hit his vehicle. Police said the collision occurred after the driver of the white minibus lost control of his vehicle. A third vehicle, a red Nissan pick-up, ran into the back of the white minibus.
The occupants of all three vehicles were injured and were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where Sgt. Forbes died and the others were admitted. The Old Harbour police are investigating.
A civilian was killed and two others injured in Clarendon when the car in which they were travelling overturned yesterday, the police said. The dead man has been identified as Hurdley Nelson, 26, of Bullard district, Clarendon.
The Clarendon CCN reported that about 2.30 a.m., the three persons were travelling in a Toyota Corolla car, registered 5492 BZ, along the Bullard main road when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car ran into an embankment and overturned.
All three men suffered injuries and were taken to the May Pen Hospital where Nelson, who was reported to have been driving, was pronounced dead. Lewis and Smith were admitted in serious condition. The Four Paths police are investigating.
