NCB Amateur Double quarter-finals begin

THE NCB Open Amateur Double Tennis Championships continue this afternoon at the Liguanea Club, New Kingston with quarter-final matches starting at 5:00 p.m.

In class two action at 5:00, Sydney Abrahams/Gene Lee take on Mark Edwards/Leon Senior and Randolph Bariffe/Andrew Irvine face Marc Chin/Michael Lawrence while a hour later, Douglas Kong/Ruddy Chin go up against Junior Haldane/Tony Affleck.

Keith Samuels/Cosmo Walker will take on Karl James/Aribyn Hill in the lone class three match at 6:30 p.m. In a Ladies B encounter, Myrna Lowe/Jerry King face Catherine Smientanski/Judy Francis.

On Monday night, Abrahams and Lee defeated Miguel Gordon/Cassius Watson 6-4, 6-1 and Lawrence and Chin stopped Nigel Casserly/David Issacs 7-6, 6-3 in class two.

Damion Leyew/Lloyd Nelson beat Norman Marshall/Everton Morgan 6-4, 5-7, 7-6; Ruddy Chin/Bryan Engleton crushed Isao Tanabe/Junya Suzuki 6-1, 6-1; Mark Edwards/Leon Senior stopped Kiyotaka Kawamoto/Atsushi Yanagawa 6-1, 6-2; Cecil Edwards/Wayne Ashley edged Errol Williams/Robert Barber 7-5, 6-3 and Terrence Forrester/John Bailey beat Lloyd Buck/Arnold Douglas 7-6, 1-6, 6-4 in class three action.

Ann-Marie Burke/Lily Kong defeated Annette Francis/Sheron Asphan 6-0, 6-0 in the lone Ladies B match.
