The teacher, the supreme
published: Wednesday | February 26, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THERE EXISTS an unwise tendency to compare the professions of nursing, teaching and policing. There are arguments about who is more important in our so-called civilised community and who deserves the most recompense.

It was a teacher who taught the nurse, the policeman and the teacher. Teachers should be held in the highest honour.

I appeal to the powers that be do not abandon our teachers as they were the ones that 'civilised' me.

I am, etc.,
